MIA update

4 min read
Hey kids! Been a while hasn't it?

I did drop off the radar for quite some time after i was diagnosed with epilepsy 3 years ago. I was constantly drained because of my medication and my insomnia kicked into high gear making things harder. I wasn't able to concentrate for long spans of time like i use to, i could have done stuff all day right up before bed but everything had slowed right down to almost nothing to the point i can only do 10 mins on crocheting, 30 mins drawing at most. But i am trying.

Even though i have been MIA from art, i have been dropping by.

Since last time i have had a few eventful years.

2017 i went to Japan for my birthday. I went to Kyoto, Mt.Koyasan, Matsumoto and Tokyo, as well as many other places along the way. I went on a guided tour as i had no clue what i wanted to do and i would see more with a guide than being by myself. On the last day we were in Tokyoo and i went off by myself to Shibuya where we went the day before and i found a One Piece shop. Wish i never went because i want to go back and stay there ha ha. At least i know i really do hate flying.

That following December i went to Germany for the Christmas markets in Dusseldorf and Cologne.

Went to the south of France last year for the Christmas markets in Nice and Cannes. Amazing weather considering it was winter, and our coach drivers were heroes among men in the driving world. Try driving a coach down a stupidly narrow street full of cars on either side with inches to spare.

2018 was when i started watching art youtubers. Can't remember what got me into it but i found myself yearning for that massive part of my life back. I missed drawing and with me not being able to do much i fell out of touch. I really got into one youtuber called "DrawingWiffWaffles" and she did art subscription boxes in between her own art. One day i saw a video of a UK (where i live) subscription box called "Scrawrlbox". I loved the random materials and watching her make art out of them with the prompt the box gives, so after a few months of debating, February 2019 i bought some back issues they had in stock. Since then i was hooked..hence the explosion of submissions. Thanks to the Scrawlrboxes i found one of my now go to supplies which is watercolours.

Now i have a new flare for art again i'm hoping to get back into sharing my art with people again. It may not be the best but its subjective and a learning curve. I have started watching online lessons from "Proko" to help me with character drawing. I know how to draw the human figure but i desperately needed to get back to basics and it has helped me a lot.

For the past 3 years alone i have began to read an awful lot even if it is an hour a day. Since i moved into my flat almost 5 years ago i began reading more because i actually had space to put books. Now i have more books than i can handle and i'm delving into different genres. So far i can't stand Young adult contemporys, i read to get away from live, not read it in a book, plus the one i'm currently reading now "I am Thunder" by Muhammed Khan is confusing the hell out of me. I can follow it to know what is happening but the slang that is used is baffling me, and i see it all over the internet but i haven't a clue what it means ha ha.

So here's to the future!

A little update

3 min read
I seem to be lacking in the update department.

I have been coming on here at least once a day, i just haven't been making anything worthy of being placed along side the rest of my deviations. I have however been busy-ing away with cosplay making. I have spent almost a full year on it since my last and only yearly comic con- MCM Manchester (this year on 30th July). I still have bits to do and a do-over with one of the more annoying parts.

If anyone is interested i have a few WIPs on my facebok page www.facebook.com/meemeesallsorts

This however is kind of in jeaprody. As of April i have been diagnosed with epilepsy (at the ripe old age of 27), the adult version of petty mal which has run on my mothers side, and since then i have been on medication which in turn hasn't been of much help and i have been upping dosages as the seizures keep happening which resulted me in having multipul seizures one day and my mother having to take me to hospital. Then same thing happened again at work about a month later at work of all places. After another trip to the hospital and an ECG later it confirmed i had epilepsy despite a rude paramedic suggested if i had sudo seizures (fake seizures) after observing me being in the recovery position at work and i was very hysterical through all the time i was on the floor. A few days ago i went in for an MRI scan and now awaiting for the results for that. Because of what has gone on i got a phone call from work and i was told i couldn't go back until i was 5 months clear of seizures, thankfully of which i volunteer.

So far i haven't had a seizure for over a week but the symptoms are still there, for me normally shaking in the legs, but it has started to subside. I have been out for at least an hour every day or every other day to get use to going out (thankfully i live right in the town center so i don't have far to go to food shop) just to get use to going out again and hopefully be well enough for MCM Manchester Comic con. Thankfully a friend is going this year and she has very kindly offered a ride since i don't feel confident enough on a 2-3 hr train journey.

Anyway enough of sadness and the whole "poor me". I see this as a positive thing especially i have been able to catch up on cosplay making and a bit of cross-stitching ha ha.

My last Journal entry was last August! And i can tell you now soooo much has happened since then.

One of the biggest things to happen and in such a short space of time was FINALLY MOVING OUT TO MY OWN PLACE!!! I got a phone call in late November/December and I got the keys in January. 4 weeks of stripping the entire one and a half levels of my flat (i have 6 steps leading to another floor) and i moved in the back end of February 2015. Honestly 4 months on and it still feels like i'm house sitting, but i couldn't have asked for a more perfect location. I'm literally in my town center, if i got any closer i would be sleeping in the shops and all i have to do is walk 30 seconds to the end of my road and cross over, it's that close! Also my living room faces out onto my dad's old workshop (he passed away 6 years ago so it's another reason why i wanted this flat and why i'm glad i got that phone call)

In between all that i was working on my newest cosplay: Tyson Granger from Beyblede series 1. Get this- made ENTIRELY out of wool. Yes you heard me wool. Thats the t-shirt, jacket inside and out, shorts, shoe coverings, belt, cap, WIG!, and even pockets and button covers. For once i have finished 2 months ahead of scheduel of the Manchester Comicon.

I have been working on some new projects as well as drifting between others, even if 90% of it is "One piece" related.

The year is going to be a lot buisier for me with many trips planned such as going to Austria and Switzerland a week after my birthday, a Stitch and sew weekend thing ON my birthday, and other trips in between.

I have a very special treat for any Pokemon fan out there!

Unfortunately i haven't made any Pokemon, although i am verrrrrry tempted now. But i do have something amazing coming in the next few days. The purchase of an item is enough to get me to finish that little bit faster.

So keep an eye out!

If anyone wants to suggest anything for me to make please feel free.

Well haven't i been a busy bee. Since i made the first One Piece Jolly roger i've been on a roll. Since i had made my first ever pattern with 'Sora' vanillahigh.deviantart.com/art… last year, and after catching up on 700+ chapters and 600+ episodes of One Piece, i have been busy making all kinds of unique dolls and patterns. So much so i even made two wolf dolls for my final piece in college back in June (Overall i got a distinction* for).

This year alone i have made:

9 Strawhat jolly rogers (pre-time skip) (One Piece)
2 Bepo dolls (One Piece)
1 16" Chopper doll (One Piece)
1 Medicine bag with Rom-balls for Chopper
1 Miniture visual Den Den Mushi (One Piece)
1 hat (For a Trafalgar Law cosplay) (One Piece)
1 set of 4 pc ice cream Xmas tree decorations
1 of 3 dolls

Although lately my projects have been based on One Piece it's growing into quite a collection (The last one is from my new craze)

Not all have been straightforward, i have had a lot of problems along the way but the learning experience was amazing. Up until i listed everything above i didn't realize how much i have made yet i still feel like i haven't achieved anything.

I hope you stick around because i have a lot more in store for you for years to come!
